join us in investing in public education

Public education continues to be under attack in Texas, and citizens in McKinney, Texas, are fighting back. Public Schools First McKinney was founded by a group of citizens, educators, and parents who fully believe our public schools are the bedrock of our community and that taking public tax dollars from public schools and giving that funding to private and religious schools weakens our public schools in the process — with no transparency or accountability for how those tax dollars are spent. Not only does the voucher scam's defunding of public schools hurt students, teachers, and public schools, it is unconstitutional. Under our state constitution, taxpayers’ education dollars cannot be spent at religious schools. We believe in investing in public education and providing equal opportunity for all students, through expanding educational options in our public schools. We believe that we need to strengthen our schools instead of taking more funding from them.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. The power of education extends beyond the development of skills we need for economic success. It can contribute to nation-building and reconciliation.” Nelson Mandela
